EnerOcean

The Future of Floating. Now.

Founded in 2007, with headquarters in Malaga and in the Canary Islands, EnerOcean is a pioneer in marine energy, more specifically in floating wind, and whose developments are based on innovation.

EnerOcean’s business scope covers resource analysis, feasibility studies, development and commercialisation of enabling technologies in marine renewable energy engineering, especially in floating wind. The company is the owner and lead developer of W2Power. With its industry-leading rated power per tonne of platform steel, even at the roughest sites, the W2Power solution is the most cost-competitive floating wind technology that is sufficiently mature to be capable of being used in commercial developments, starting today. Industrial investors are on board since 2018, and a strategic investment and partnership agreement with Plenitude (Eni) was signed in 2022.

W2Power was the first solution to successfully demonstrate the possibility of using twin turbines, without interference between them, and single point mooring for floating wind in the open sea. We have considered several potential multi-use combinations of our platform. Some of these are related to energy. One of the more interesting combinations is the mix of offshore wind and fish farming.

In November 2023, world-leading certification body Bureau Veritas (BV) presented EnerOcean S.L. with the definite issue of its Certificate of Basic Design Approval of the W2Power floating wind solution.

This certification represents the completion of a comprehensive assessment of critical elements of the W2Power design, which is currently at the stage of moving to full-size commercial installations. The design assessment that BV has now completed on EnerOcean’s W2Power ensures that best practices have been properly implemented. The review includes documents (drawings, analysis and specifications) demonstrating that the design complies with regulations and design codes – with a view to its later construction. Documentation includes the design methodologies and preliminary analyses, illustrating the analytical method to be used in the detailed design phase.
